Ben the empath

With less than 4 weeks until the end of my time at my current employer, I’m feeling a sense of urgency to get many many things done, and to be available for the full range of things that crop up every December. As a result, other appointments are taking a back seat.

One was scheduled for 9am today, in full conflict with an important telcon that appeared at the end of the day yesterday. While dressing Ben for school, I told H that I didn’t see how it would be practical to schedule anything before the end of December.

Ben asked, as he does, “Why, Mommy?”

“Well, honey, Mommy doesn’t have much time left at her work, and she needs to help them before she goes away.”

A pause. His face got sad.

“Awwww! Do you need a hug?”

I did. :)
